June 2018 Reading Challenge

by Shaen Layle

We’re already over a week into June, but I wanted to share this month’s reading challenge anyway because it’s a fun one. Since June is a popular wedding month, our theme is “Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue”. Don’t stress about reading four books this month since we’re short on time, but pick and choose which portion of the theme you’d enjoy most.

Ready for the guidelines? All right, let’s dive right in!

For the month of JUNE, choose one book from each category:

*Something Old- Read a historical fiction novel OR a vintage reprint of a classic work.
*Something New- Read a book published recently (in 2017 or 2018).
*Something Borrowed- Read a book you’ve borrowed from a friend or family member OR a book lent from a library.
*Something Blue- Read a book with a blue cover or blue cover art OR a book on an emotionally weighty topic.

For my “Something Borrowed”, I’m reading Seascape in Shadows by Nancy Mehl (I borrowed this one from Nancy- she’s my mother-in-law). I’ve only recently starting reading cozy mysteries, but I really enjoy them so far, and the Martha’s Vineyard seaside setting in this one is so fun. For my “Something Blue”, I can’t wait to read A Refuge Assured by Jocelyn Green. I always enjoy a well-crafted historical fiction novel, and this one, about a lacemaker who flees to America from France in the late 1700s, looks to have some emotional heft (not to mention the most lovely blue cover).

Let me know what you’re reading in the comments below, or hop on over to our private Facebook group to discuss.

Shaen
