A Crumby Way to Die by Georgiana Daniels
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
KC and the gang are back in this delightful new installment of Georgiana Daniels’ A KC Crumb Mystery series. The story starts with KC enjoying small-town life in Beaver Bluff when her ex-boyfriend, man-bun-wearing James, shows up. He seems intent on wooing back KC, just as she’s equally focused on other goals, including jumpstarting her social media marketing business, flirting with police officer, Antonio Hamson, and solving a new mystery- who killed the mysterious Mason Dunn with a shish kebab skewer at the local B&B?
I enjoyed this cozy mystery immensely. It has all the “cozy” hallmarks: an adorable small-town setting, plenty of quirky characters, and a hefty dose of humor. (Case in point: The scene where KC and her friends recreate the murder scene using olives and cheese cubes from a charcuterie board is absolutely hilarious!) The story also features a nice dash of chick lit, with KC sleuthing in her signature high heels and having swoon-worthy run-ins with her crush, Officer Hamson. KC is a likeable, feisty heroine you find yourself rooting for, from page 1 to the mystery’s surprising but satisfying conclusion.
