Happy Saturday, Reader Room! Please help me welcome Sharee Stover to the blog. I know you’re going to enjoy this interview with her. Keep reading to get a sneak peek into this author’s life and work:

Welcome to the blog, Sharee! We’re writer friends online and in real life, so it’s so fun to be able to host you on the blog today. Let’s lead in with a question about reading. What’s the last book that had a significant emotional impact on you? It might be a story that made you cry or one that had you delirious with laughter. Why do you think it had that impact?

Safely Home by Randy Alcorn is my all-time very favorite book. It’s a story that drives home the reality of suffering for Christ and the real persecution so many Christians around the world face. It’s one that has remained ingrained in my heart and mind regardless of all the other books I’ve read.

I haven’t read that book, but it definitely sounds like a powerful read. I’ll have to check it out soon! Moving on to writing, what do you love about the genre in which you write, which is romantic suspense?

I love all things forensics and can totally geek out in my research for books. I also love binging crime shows for ideas.

I really enjoy the research process, too, and TV and movies can be a great brainstorming tool! Do you have any quirky writing habits?

Cinnamon gum helps me think while I write, and I always have a Milky Way Midnight when I finish a book. I prefer silence and being alone to think and talk to my characters. Other than that, I’m boring.

Not boring at all! You’re just saving the excitement for the story! One more writing question… what’s the funniest thing you’ve ever had happen to you as a writer?

I love to write authentically, so I’ve tied my husband to a chair to see if he could escape the way I had written my hero doing the same thing. Or I’ve had my adult kids join me in acting out action scenes. I haven’t tried diving off a dam (that happens in one of my books), but I’ve visited strange locations, talked with amazing experts like a real forensic anthropologist, US Marshal, and horse rescuer, all in the name of research.

What us authors do to improve our books! It’s so helpful to have that stockpile of knowledge at our fingertips, though. All right, last question. In the Bible, do you have a “life verse” that’s significant to you? Do you find yourself exploring this theme often in your work?

Yes!! I sign my books with my life verse, Ephesians 3:20-21. “Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” I love that God is limitless and through Him we can do things we never imagined possible.

Amen to that! All right, time to talk about your new release, Framing the Marshal. Care to tell us a little more about this book?

Proving his innocence may cost him his life…

After a brutal attack, US marshal Riker Kastell regains consciousness only to find a murdered gang member in his mudroom. Even worse, Eliana Daines—his ex-sweetheart—has a DNA program that pinpoints him as the murderer. And Eliana’s technology has them both targeted by criminals. Now he and his K-9 must protect Eliana…and find the killer who looks just like Riker before they become the next victims.
